Nectar to offer Argos goods for points online

Loyalty programme Nectar has joined forces with Argos to launch an online home shopping service that enables cardholders to exchange points for products to be delivered to their door.

Argos is one of the scheme's redemption partners and has offered products for points in stores since Nectar's launch. However, Nectar is now offering products sourced from Argos on its Web site. Argos is responsible for the delivery and returns of the 25 items available.

The service was launched in November for the run-up to Christmas, but Richard Campbell, marketing director for Nectar owner Loyalty Management UK, said the Argos tie-up will continue next year.

Products on offer will change every quarter.

He said: 'We launched Nectar Direct to your Door on the back of the initial relationship with Argos, as one of our redemption partners. We're offering various items of merchandise online.' Campbell would not comment on the financial terms of the deal.

Items available this quarter include televisions, hi-fis, digital cameras, PlayStation 2s and kitchen appliances.

Nectar was launched in September 2002, with retail partners Sainsbury's, Barclaycard, Debenhams and BP. Since then other retailers have joined.

The loyalty card scheme, with 12.8 million cardholders, also aims to sign-up partners in the fashion sector.
