Liam Gallagher-owned fashion retailer Pretty Green is joining forces with record label Universal Music UK to open pop-up virtual record stores in its shop windows.

All 10 Pretty Green stores will install the 24 hour virtual vinyl shops from May 24 to June 10.

Pretty Green brand director Nigel Grant said: “As music is a large part of Pretty Green’s heritage the collaboration with Universal Music and Simply Tap is in perfect synergy with our brand values.

“Through our label we strive to bring style, culture and music from past decades firmly into the future.”

The partnership will use mobile checkout app Simply Tap, designed by Sir Stuart Rose-backed venture Money Mobile Network.

Shoppers who are signed up to Simply Tap will be able to buy vinyl by taking a picture of the album cover in the shop window or by scanning a QR code.

Records are then posted to the shopper’s registered delivery address.

The vinyl stores will sell 12 classic titles, including Ian Brown’s The Greatest and The Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street.

Universal has seen vinyl sales reignite through its online Uvinyl store. Sales reached a six-year high last year, up 44%.
