Nursery retailer Kiddicare expects 20% of its sales to come from mobile within 12 months as its newly launched sites start driving sales.

It racked up sales of £200,000 via mobile since launching its iPhone app and mobile-enabled website 8 weeks ago and between 2% to 5% of sales come from mobile devices. The nursery retailer predicts this will rise to 20% before the end of the year.

The fully transactional iPhone app, designed by Infogain, has been downloaded by 19,000 customers. It allows shoppers to scan high street products and compare prices with Kiddicare’s range.

Kiddicare chief executive Scott Weavers-Wright said: “Kiddicare has responded to the busy lifestyles of the 21st century family and developed new mobile technology to make shopping easier for busy parents.”

Kiddicare was put up for sale late last year, and the etailer is said to be in talks with several trade and private equity buyers.
