Flying Brands has moved some of the fulfillment functions of its flower business to the UK from Jersey and as appointed a new sales and marketing director.

The home shopping group has moved its packing and postal dispatch of its Flying Flowers business to the UK from Jersey and outsourced them to flower distributor Top Flora.

Moving fulfillment from Jersey will make Flying Flowers’ postal bouquets subject to UK VAT, and the retailer said this would

lead to a short-term decline in reported revenues because it would not be increasing prices to reflect the addition of VAT.

However, the move to the UK will allow it to offer a larger range and same-day delivery for the first time, reduce waste and replacements.

Flying Brands expects the improved offering to increase its active customer base, offsetting the loss of Low Value Consignment Relief in the medium term.

Flying Brands chief executive Stephen Cook said: “These changes will enable us to offer even better quality and value for money.

“The introduction of the new services also means that we will be able to offer the widest range of delivery options available in the UK and this in turn will enable us to attract a much broader range of customers.”

New sales and marketing director

Flying Brands has also  appointed Marie Myles as sales and marketing director.

Myles will join retailer in November from Experian, where she is currently director of marketing consulting services.
