Mothercare set to roll out new high street look

Mothercare is ready to roll with its new high street concept launched in Hammersmith last month, but is waiting for new chief executive Ben Gordon's approval on the design.

The store tests a number of new initiatives, including an information station that gives advice on products, demonstration areas and new ordering systems similar to the likes of Argos.

Mothercare retail operations director Vince Gunn said the new store, which was designed by Checkland Kindleysides, is hugely important for the chain. 'This is about understanding the future of the high street.

We have 150 stores and a huge amount of work to do,' he said.

The test store will be reviewed by Christmas, by which time Gordon, at present managing director of Disney Store, should have joined.
