Moss Bros sets sights on profit with less stock

Moss Bros is to focus on simplifying the business and keeping stock levels low as it heads back into profit.

Chief executive Adrian Wright said lower stock levels had helped the retailer halve its pre-tax losses to£1.8 million in the six months to July.

This compares with a loss of£3.7 million for the same period last year. Sales fell from£60 million to£58.4 million over the same period.

'We had far too much stock, which we just couldn't shift,' said Wright.

He added the retailer is on target to achieve profit this year.

The strategy going forward will be to focus on its three main brands - Moss Bros, Cecil Gee and Hugo Boss.
