Menswear retailer poised for expansion next year
Menswear retailer Moss Bros plans to open 20 stores next year.

Chief executive Philip Mountford said: 'We still believe there is an enormous amount of opportunity for the Moss concept and we can roll that out into more stores than we currently have.'

The locations are still confidential, but Mountford added: 'We are still not in Sheffield and there are some key towns around Birmingham that we are looking at.'

The expansion proposal came on the back of a robust set of interim results unveiled earlier this week, but Mountford said the Christmas period is not going to be easy. 'We think it is going to be very tough and Moss is going to work very hard be more tactical,' he said.

Like many other retailers, the group is having trouble selling warmer clothing lines. Mountford said the weather is having a 'major' impact on current trading, pointing out that tomorrow will be 7 degrees hotter than last year. 'We measure the weather day by day,' he said.
