Moss Bros aims for profit amid takeover rumour

Menswear retailer Moss Bros hopes to return to profit by next year.

However, ownership of the business looks uncertain as speculation about a possible combined bid from Shami Ahmed and Jonathan Rowland continues.

Ahmed would not comment on whether a bid would be forthcoming.

Moss Bros has cut costs at its head office and reduced its supplier base to strengthen buying. Depth of purchasing on key lines has also been increased.

Moss, the new format seen as key to Moss Bros's future success, has now been rolled out to 96 stores.

Last week, Moss Bros reported an interim loss of£1.3 million on turnover of£60 million.
