Move to 'de-risk' international arm
Monsoon chairman and founder Peter Simon is considering a demerger of the fashion chain's international business.

In its annual results statement yesterday Simon said: 'We are looking at a number of ways of de-risking the [international] business and I am hopeful we can find a solution to this in due course'.

It is thought that Simon may buy the international division if the demerger goes ahead. A Monsoon spokesman said: 'It is one option - but not the only one.'

The group reported a 2 per cent drop in profit for the year to May 27, but said the international business had performed well over the past two years.

Simon announced plans to take the company private last July, but withdrew his interest in March.
