Retailer may miss forecasts by £9m
Monsoon may miss analysts' pre-tax profit forecasts by as much as£9 million, owing to poor trading and setbacks at its new distribution centre.

In a statement this morning, the owner of the Monsoon and Accessorize chains said that it expected pre-tax profit for the year ending May 26 to be between£46 million and£50 million, rather than the£55 million forecast by house broker Seymour Pierce.

Seymour Pierce analyst Richard Ratner said: 'Obviously, they've had a bad January [and] February, but there have been problems at the distribution centre as well.' However, he said that the problems at Accessorize were solely the result of poor trading.

Ratner added: 'We've pulled the numbers back to£46.5 million [for the group] for this year and from£65 million to£58.5 million for next year.'
