Ministers provide broadband cash

The Government has earmarked£30 million for the development of broadband adoption in the UK, but will avoid a hands-on role so as to not stifle innovation and commerce.

Speaking at a meeting of the Retail IT Directors' Club on Wednesday, the minister responsible for e-commerce, Stephen Timms, said the cash will be used to develop partnerships to promote and deliver broadband, which will allow Internet users faster access to the Web.
