Kitchens have slowed though and logistics costs may rise
MFI group net orders for the period between December 26 and March 2 were up 6 per cent to£444 million. Same-store figures were also up 4 per cent compared to the same period last year. UK retail net orders, excluding the furniture retailer's Howden Joinery business, were up 4 per cent in total and 2 per cent on a same-store basis.

The retailer said that bedrooms and beds recorded increased net orders compared to last year because of new product ranges. Kitchen net orders were level for the period, though volumes had increased.

The number transactions below£500 rose during the period, reflecting an increased market share amongst cost-conscious buyers, the retailer said. However, this is expected to impact on logistics costs as a proportion of sales.
