Primark opens today (Friday) in a former Woolworths unit combined a new 15,000 sq ft rear extension. Previously Primark operated from a smaller 34,400 sq ft space at the centre.

The fast fashion retailer is one of several recent signings at Metrocentre, with The Fragrance Shop, The Entertainer and Boux Avenue all opening stores in recent weeks.

Primark’s new store will use its latest design concept, “incorporating significantly enhanced visual merchanding, branding, fixturing and lighting used to deliver a better customer experience”. Video screens fixed around the store will showcase Primark’s latest campaigns.

Martin Breeden, director of asset management at landlord Capital Shopping Centres, said: “Primark’s new store looks fantastic and provides another new anchor to Metrocentre.

“In addition we have secured a number of complementary lettings that shows the strength and diversity of the retail pitches within the centre.”
