But main stores to close on Boxing Day
Marks and Spencer is to extend opening hours at stores nationwide the week before Christmas.

That week, 55 stores will stay open until midnight, with a further 106 extending trading hours to either 10pm or 11pm.

M&S retail director Anthony Thompson said: 'At this hectic time of year, we want to make shopping as convenient as possible for our customers. Extended opening hours allow customers to shop at a time that suits them.'

However, he warned that main stores would not be open on Boxing Day this year. 'Our staff have worked very hard this year, so we'll be closed on Boxing Day, giving them a well earned break,' he said.

Some outlet stores and all Simply Food stores at airports, motorway service stations and BP Connect petrol stations will remain open on Boxing Day.
