Majestic Wines earmarks stores for refurbishment and relocation

Majestic Wine will have spent£500,000 on refurbishments by the end of this year, as it upgrades its portfolio to ensure continued strong sales growth.

Chief executive Tim How said Majestic needed to modernise a handful of stores and has identified approximately 10 shops that it would like to relocate.

How said that strong sales of rose and champagne contributed to the retailer's strong first-half performance, along with a surge in new customers.

Profits before tax, exceptionals and amortisation of goodwill increased by 42 per cent to£3.96 million for the six months to September 29. Total sales increased by 21.8 per cent to£69.1 million.
