House of Fraser has launched its campaign with Laura Mvula, titled ‘Christmas is Coming for You’.

Mvula covers “Ready or Not Here I Come (Can’t Hide from Love”, first performed by The Delfonics in the 1960s and later sampled in the 1990s by the Fugees.

The advert builds on the brand’s previous Christmas campaign, which set it apart from other department stores, by basing its narrative around a contemporary Christmas party with bold music and choreography.

The campaign will be previewed during the Mobo awards on ITV2.com tonight and broadcast in its entirety during a commercial break in the X Factor on Saturday evening.

Directed by music video director Emil Nava, who has recently collaborated with Rihanna, Calvin Harris and Ed Sheeran, the video will be accompanied by social media and in-store activity.

House of Fraser chief executive Nigel Oddy said: “With this years’ campaign, we wanted to capture the anticipation of the season and the overwhelming excitement it brings when it finally arrives; all in the contemporary and energetic style that has become synonymous with House of Fraser.

We’ve updated Christmas iconography with a creative and subversive twist to create a powerful campaign that’s instantly recognisable.”

“We want to encourage our customers to truly embrace their shopping experience this year whether that’s adding some festive magic to their home, preparing for the party season or searching for the perfect gift. Whether you are ready or not, Christmas is coming for you.”
