Keenan joined Dixons Group in 1996, going on to launch the group's operations in Ireland. He has also been marketing director of PC World, a post he held for three years. He is now assistant managing director at Currys.
Wilkinson said: 'Peter has made a huge contribution to Currys and the group as a whole. His broad based experience and his unwavering focus on our customers equip him perfectly for this important role.'
Prior to his arrival at Dixons Group, Keenan was a chartered accountant at Arthur Anderson.
Currys' sales for the year ending April 30 were£1.85 billion, up 6 per cent on last year. Like-for-like sales for the period increased by 6 per cent.
Dixons Group announced last week the company will change its name to DSG International.
