John Lewis tests Principles brand in nine outlets

John Lewis is conducting a nine-store pilot of womenswear from high street retailer Principles.

It is the first time the department store chain has carried the Principles label.

Central buyer Jane Handscomb said the range was contemporary and well-priced, 'with a wide appeal that would complement existing collections of contemporary brands'.

The range is scheduled to enter another three stores and if popular with customers, will be rolled out across the chain.

- Amanda Scott is to succeed Tricia Hamilton as John Lewis's director of buying, womenswear and accessories when she retires later this year.
