John David Group, which owns JD Sports, will launch a transactional web site for Scotts, its fashion arm, before the end of the year

John David Group chief executive Barry Bown said that the transactional web sites for Scotts’ sister brands JD Sports and Size contribute significantly to the group’s profits. Bown said that the Scotts site will feature a selection of its fashion products and will retain the personality of its stores.

Bown dismissed suggestions that Scotts was up for sale and added that good progress had been made with Scotts’ stores in terms of portfolio rationalisation over the past year and the outlook is improving slowly.

The group is concentrating on store refurbishments, according to Bown, as well as enhancing its relationship with its brands.

John David Group reported a pre-tax profit of£8.1 million in the 26-week period to end July 28 2007 – up from£3.1 million the previous year.
