Walmart plans to team up with small and mid-level suppliers in India on sourcing various product categories.

The partnership arrangement will enable the retailer to create private labels that will be priced as much as 10% to 15% lower than established brands. Private labels are already being sold in its BestPrice Modern Wholesale cash and carries and at Bharti’s independently owned Easyday stores.

The retailer plans to source products locally and within a 100 kilometre radius of stores to save on costs.
