Delhaize Group posted 1.9% revenue growth at identical exchange rates for the third quarter.

At actual exchange rates the supermarket operator increased revenues by 4.8% to €4.9bn (£4.4bn) due to the strengthening of the US dollar by 5.2% against the euro compared with last year.

Operating profit rose 5.7% to €228m (£203m), a 2.1% increase at identical exchange rates. Comparable sales in its US operation were down 1.3%, while Belgium showed comparable store sales growth of 4.6%, attributed to a continued increase in the average number of transactions.
