Amazon’s Kindle Fire has overtaken Samsung to grab the second largest share of the US tablet market, according to research firm IHS. It estimated that Amazon had a 14% share of the market during the fourth quarter after releasing Kindle Fire in November. That compared with a 57% share for Apple’s iPad and 8% for Samsung.

Meanwhile, the China Times of Taiwan reported that Amazon’s suppliers expect a larger 10-inch version of the Kindle Fire to be released by the end of the second quarter. Amazon is reportedly planning to reduce manufacturing costs by picking and approving parts rather than leaving this task to suppliers.
