US department store group Kohl's could more than double its store base to 1,000 outlets, according to researcher Retail Forward.
The 428-strong retailer will continue to steal market share from competitors, says the research firm. Kohl's has the opportunity to adapt its format for mid-sized communities not served by a department store. It also has the chance to become an alternative to the discount department store operators.
Retail Forward senior vice-president Lois Huff said Kohl's is beating off the competition. 'Kohl's has been preying on the weak simply by rolling out stores with near faultless execution,' she said.
