Ahold works on Foodservice gap

Ahold's supervisory board was due to meet as Retail Week went to press to discuss candidates for the vacant role of chief executive at its troubled US Foodservice arm.

The business was at the centre of an accounting scandal earlier this year, after it emerged that income had been inflated.

Ahold chief executive Anders Moberg was also due to give his first presentation to the board outlining a recovery strategy.

- Separately, Ahold is to sell its US-based 138-strong Golden Gallon forecourt chain to The Pantry for an undisclosed sum.
