Barneys has worked with technology supplier Christie to deliver its displays, entitled ‘A New York Holiday’.

The Madison Avenue windows have moving content that demonstrates how light and shadow are experienced in New York City, using colours black, white and gold.

The display includes a ‘floating city’ projected on a 16-ft tall rock wall and includes twinkling stars in a night sky and slow-moving sunrise. This is enhanced by changing geographical landscapes, all using 3D mapping technology.

A large hanging resembling a rock or icicle formation is covered in thousands of fragmented mirrors, and projection mapping is used to create a light show on the object itself.

The window housing the ‘BNY NYC Sleigh Ride’ features a rotating cast of improvisational performers in modern Santa outfits who take children on a virtual sleigh ride through an abstracted New York.

Also, the Madison Avenue flagship houses an in-store gallery. On the third floor, a 1,200 sq ft space using projection mapping, exclusive content, lights, and movement to transport customers into the world of New York. A 70-ft long hall with floor projection guides visitors from the lift to the gallery. The ‘BNY SCC Gallery’ showcases limited edition products designed by Jay-Z in collaboration with various designers.
