Inditex operating income rose 27 per cent in constant currency to €1.11 billion (£801 million) in the nine months to October 31.

Net income for the Spanish fashion group, which owns chains including Zara, Massimo Dutti and Pull and Bear, increased 30 per cent to €825 million (£593.2 million). Net sales were up between 17 and 18 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

In the nine months to October 31, Inditex increased its selling area by 2 million sq ft, with 411 store openings. This has helped to create 10,377 jobs in the past 12 months and the retailer now employs more than 76,087 staff.

The board at Inditex has resolved to include the Recommendations of the Unified Good Governance Code in board regulations.
