Westfield Stratford City is to open next Tuesday with department store John Lewis – opening the doors to its 260,000 sq ft store – as one of the complex’s main anchors.

The £35m Stratford store is the retailer’s only full-line shop to debut this year.

Many retailers will be debuting concept stores at the scheme. Jeweller Goldsmiths is launching its new boutique featuring jewellery vending machines and a ‘chill-out zone’.

The 2,000 sq ft store will target a younger, more fashion-conscious demographic aged 18 to 35. The chill-out zone will have Wi-Fi, drinks facilities and iPads to browse the retailer’s collections.

Lingerie and sex toy retailer Ann Summers new store will have interactive features and themed dressing rooms, along with a six foot rabbit which will sit the centre of the store.

Fast fashion chain Zara will unveil a new “clean and modern” trial store format according to owner Inditex UK managing director Dilip Patel. The 27,000 sq ft store spreads across two levels and the large store size will allow it to devote more space to menswear and kidswear.

Uniqlo’s new 10,000sq ft store is its first UK store to carry its new global standard for shop fittings and fixtures. The store includes a mezzanine level and a 8m glass display tank at the front of the store.

Lifestyle brand Fat Face’s store will feature a fresh look featuring authentic rope and wood detailing. In store customers will be able to watch films from the latest shoot or Fat Face events.

River Island will be using ‘magic mirrors’ in dressing rooms that permit customers to upload images of outfits they are trying on to Facebook and Twitter.
