Made.com and Heal’s were among a handful of homewares retailers that opened at the Mailbox in Birmingham this week.

The openings marked the launch of a significant new homewares destination at one of the city’s premier shopping centres.

For 200-year old business Heal’s, this is its first store opening in the Midlands.

It is also the first permanent showroom in the area for online furniture specialist Made.com, which had a pop-up store in Birmingham’s Bull Ring last year.

Made.com commercial director Annabel Kilner said: “Having seen great promise from the Made.com Birmingham pop-up, we are delighted to open our showroom in the Mailbox.

“Birmingham is an important city for Made.com and we’re keen to see the impact the bigger location will have on sales.”

The new 20,000 sq ft homewares section is located on the first level of the Mailbox where other home, furniture and accessories retailers are also located, such as Danish brand BoConcept, Wesley Barrell, Calligaris and The Design Quarter.

Lighting specialist iLite is also set to open in the autumn.

Nash Bond and GVA acted as joint leasing agents on the deals.
