Superdrug has opened a pop-up shop in London’s Shoreditch Boxpark to capitalise on the rapidly growing vegan beauty trend.

The health and beauty retailer’s vegan pop-up shop will be open for three months and is selling products across make-up, skincare and men’s grooming categories.

The retailer, which unveiled a jump in full-year pre-tax profits last July, has recorded a 15% rise in sales of vegan beauty products over the past year.

Superdrug said this sales rise has been largely driven by non-vegan shoppers who “choose vegan beauty products for ethical and quality reasons”.

This is the second new-format store that the health and beauty business has launched this year, having unveiled a beauty superstore offering spray tans and blow dries at Leicester’s Fosse Park in January.

Commercial director Simon Comins said: “At Superdrug we’re fully committed to offering a wide selection of vegan products to our customers and want to make it as easy as possible for shoppers to identify these products.

“Our technical team are constantly challenging all of our suppliers to offer products that are suitable for vegans.

“We’re delighted that we now have nearly a thousand products within our portfolio and with the launch of The Little Vegan Pop-Up Shop, we’re proving that you can shop all your vegan beauty needs from toothpaste to mascara in one place.”
