Tesco has launched a voucher offer on its clothing lines as the grocer continues its post-profit warning fightback.

The grocer, which admitted it lost out to promotional coupons elsewhere over Christmas, has taken out national press ads for a money-off deal for the second time in a week.

Tesco is offering £5 off when you spend £25 or more on clothing in store or £10 off when you spend £40 or more on clothing online. The offer ends on February 5.

Last week, Asda accused Tesco of “imitation” after the UK’s largest retailer began a £5 off a £40 shop deal which mirrored an Asda campaign in the run-up to Christmas on Wednesday.

Tesco is also offering a 70% off more than 100 selected clothing lines online. The website offers free delivery on orders over £50.

The grocery giant is regrouping after a poor Christmas performance wiped £4.8bn off its stock market value. Credit ratings agency Moody’s has placed Tesco’s A3 long-term senior unsecured rating under review for possible downgrade
