Aldi has reported surging sales as the World Cup and the festive period, combined with a flight to value driven by the cost-of-living crisis, helped deliver its “best Christmas ever”.
Sales jumped 26% year on year over the Christmas period and topped £1.4bn in the month of December for the first time in Aldi’s history. Fresh meat and poultry sales surged 28% over the festive period, while sales of chilled desserts and fresh cheeses skyrocketed, up 30% and 50% respectively.
