Gieves & Hawkes recruits first retail general manager

Bespoke tailor and menswear firm Gieves & Hawkes has appointed its first general manager for retail operations as it expands its store presence.

Gieves & Hawkes has recruited former United Colors of Benetton retail manager, Ray Clacher, to the role. Clacher will oversee Gieves & Hawkes' 12 standalone shops and hopes to expand the brand into key locations throughout the UK.

Meanwhile, the retailer opened its latest store last month, in Birmingham's Mailbox shopping centre. The next shop is scheduled to open in Manchester in March.

Clacher said: 'We want stores in key affluent areas of the country.'

The concession business, which has outlets in Selfridges and Harrods, is also to be expanded.
