Australian stationery retailer Typo has launched its first UK store at Westfield Stratford, and unveiled ambitions to open 100 over the next five to ten years.

The Cotton On group-owned brand said its decision to open bricks-and-mortar shops in the UK follows strong customer demand since Typo launched online in the UK earlier this year.

Typo general manager Bianca Ginns said: “Since launching our e-commerce business in April, sales have exceeded our expectations and UK customers have been quick to adopt our quirky offering.”

The retailer predicts the Westfield store, which opened earlier this month, will be its busiest of its 200 global stores across the 12 markets it currently operates in.

The retailer, which sells “fun, quirky and affordable” stationery, gifts and arts and crafts, is actively seeking locations for its second store.

The 1,450 sq ft Westfield store offers a product personalisation service.
