Gamestation to trial concessions

Video games retailer Gamestation is to test concessions in Blockbuster stores this spring.

The initiative follows the acquisition of Gamestation by the US-based video, DVD and games rental specialist last year.

Gamestation managing director Steve Hall said he hopes to open the first concession by April. 'We'll trial three or four before we look at rolling it out,' he added.

However, he added: 'Even if it's only 20 per cent of the 700-store Blockbuster portfolio, it would really increase our presence on the high street.'

Gamestation also intends to open between 70 and 100 standalone stores this year.
