Game supremo quits to move back to the US

Game chief executive John Steinbrecher will be replaced by deputy chief executive Martin Long next February.

Steinbrecher wants to educate his children in his native US but, according to a statement, 'will help to provide continuity by being available as a strategic adviser to the group.'

Commercial director Lisa Morgan becomes deputy chief executive designate.

Chairman Peter Lewis said: 'During his (Steinbrecher's) time as chief executive, the group has become firmly established as the leading retailer of video games in the UK, with sales growing tenfold to more than£500 million.'
