Furniture Village to go upmarket on Sloane Square

Furniture Village is opening a new upmarket shop in London, under the London Furniture Company fascia.

The retailer has exchanged contracts on a 2,320 sq m store in the Duke of York's development on Sloane Square.

Managing director Peter Harrison said: 'We have secured a visually stunning building in one of the most desirable retail sites to become available for many years.'

Cadogan Estates, which owns the Duke of York's, is pitching it as an upmarket shopping area and intends to recruit about 30 tenants.

Meanwhile, Furniture Village has appointed former Courts marketing controller Andrew Hickling as director of marketing.

In May, former B&Q boss Jim Hodkinson became chairman of Furniture Village.
