Fledgling 202 to build on first store's success

French Connection is to expand its fledgling Nicole Farhi lifestyle business, 202, on the back of the first store's success since opening last year.

Stephen Marks, French Connection chairman and chief executive, said 202 had performed above expectations.

He said: '202 has been amazing. I never thought it would be as busy and we are already looking at other places to do it.' He would not give details of store target numbers.

The shop was launched in London's Westbourne Grove as a 'lifestyle version' of Nicole Farhi. As well as fashion the store also carries homewares and has an in-store cafe-restaurant.

Further product licensing deals are in the pipeline for Nicole Farhi, and Marks said he wants to open more Great Plains stores. The first Great Plains shop, which opened last year, was revamped last month.
