First standalone for FCUK's Great Plains

French Connection is to launch the first standalone store for its Great Plains brand this week in The Glades shopping centre at Bromley.

The south London store is the first of a number planned for the brand, which is sold in around 200 department stores and independents and some French Connection franchises. 'This is the first one, so we will see how it goes, but hopefully we will roll out the concept in the spring,' said a French Connection spokeswoman.

Like French Connection's sister brand, Nicole Fahri, the Great Plains store will have a separate identity. Great Plains is positioned at the fashion essentials end of the market, with prices of around£30-£40 for basics such as trousers.

'Great Plains is doing well so we felt it was time to put it into its own store,' said the spokeswoman.
