Tesco boss Andrew Higginson has offloaded a tranche of shares in the top grocer.

Higginson, chief executive of Tesco’s retailing services and responsible for group strategy, sold 250,000 shares on Wednesday at 426.63p netting just over £1m.

Higginson was formerly Tesco’s finance director and also chair’s the retailer’s personal finance division which aims to take market share from the established high street banks in the wake of the credit crunch.
