Danish fashion group and investor Bestseller has increased its stake in fashion etailer Asos.

The small increase, made on Tuesday, took the danish retailer’s holdings over the 17% mark.

Bestseller, which operates fascias including Jack & Jones and Vero Moda, has rapidly increased its share in Asos prompting speculation that it may attempt a takeover, a claim the retailer has previously rejected.

In its last update Asos reported its pre-tax profits were up 59% to £7m in the six months to September 30.
