Field & Trek loss spirals to £380k

Outdoor retailer Field & Trek has posted a tenfold increase in pre-tax losses to£379,872 for the year ended February 24. Turnover plunged by almost£7 million to£13.6 million.

Field & Trek managing director Richard Gundle said foot-and-mouth had had a 'dramatic effect' on business, but he added that the company has traded well since and will return to profit this year.

The retailer opened new stores in Covent Garden in June last year and Cambridge last October and now has 13 shops. Gundle said he is close to signing a new store and hopes for three new sites by next year.
