Independent department store chain Fenwick was founded in Newcastle in 1882. It now has nine stores across the UK and is still owned by the Fenwick family. The department store offers a large range of goods and services, with a focus of luxury and designer items. It is also one of the only department stores in the UK to retain a food hall. However, its Bond Street store is scheduled to close in 2024.

Net sales (excluding concessions) rose 31.5% to £264.7m, with gross sales up 31.2% at £315.3m, driven by the online business. Bolstered by asset disposals, the group swung back into the black at the operating and pre-tax levels after four years of losses.
