Zara

The retailer has pulled its socks up and created a decent app. You can browse and buy items online without too much hassle.
Advantages include the simple categorisation of menswear, womenswear and kidswear and also news, which is easy to navigate on a small screen. The store locator is handy when abroad and on the move.
Your Profile is my favourite function as I hate retyping information. You can set up your profile and link it to your web user profile, set-up delivery addresses and access your orders.
The Zara app is clearly designed and is a much better execution than
its website.

Topshop

I don’t understand what the Topshop app gives users. Is it an access point to the blog or just fashion notifications? It does not seem to be clear and concise and more importantly you can’t purchase online.

Other issues include the background image changing, making it confusing and hard to read. The inbox suggests it’s a mailing system but it’s just notifications. Why not call it that and use it to push more promotions?

The Topshop blog is connected, but due to the size of the images on posts it is slow and not very user-friendly.

Topshop seems not to have thought about the user with this app and has just tried to tick a box in its strategy.
