US clothing firm G-III Apparel has reportedly joined the battle to take over Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia empire.

G-III Apparel, which has links to outgoing US president Donald Trump’s family, is the latest to make a bid for Arcadia’s brands including Topshop and Miss Selfridge.

The company, which is based in New York, has been involved in a number of the family’s fashion ventures, including the president’s signature tie collection and his daughter Ivanka’s clothing brand, which closed in 2018.

G-III is a family-run company, founded by Aron Goldfarb in 1956 and now run by his son Morris.

Other firms with their hats in the ring include fellow US company Authentic Brands, as well as British fashion retailers Next and Boohoo.

Australian firm City Chic has already confirmed the purchase of Arcadia’s Evans brand.

It is believed that Deloitte, which is managing the sale process, is working to an end of February deadline.
