US casualwear retailer J Crew has begun fitting out its new menswear store ahead of its much-anticipated UK debut in November.

The retailer has started work on the store at 38 Lamb’s Conduit Street in Bloomsbury, London which is thought will open around the same time as its Regent Street flagship, the former Burberry store, in November.

Retail-week.com revealed that J Crew would open the menswear store as part of its plan to open five different formats across London.

The format is thought to be similar to its New York experimental Liquor Store location, which has retained the original exterior signage and structure of the former liquor store. It is thought the London equivalent will focus on tailoring.

Lamb’s Conduit Street is home to many independent traders including fashion retailer Folk.

In the US, J Crew, a favourite of First Lady Michelle Obama, also operates standalone shops for its kidswear label Crewcuts, denim brand Madewell and J Crew Factory outlets alongside its J Crew stores.
