Boohoo has published the names of around 1,100 factories it uses around the world following a pledge to share the list within 12 months of the Independent Review produced by Alison Levitt QC.

The publication of the list follows the brand’s ongoing efforts to be more transparent following disclosures that some factory workers in Leicester were paid below minimum wage last year.

The factory list is part of a set of recommendations outlined in the review by Levitt in September 2020 that were then broken down into 34 deliverables, 28 of which have been completed. The online fashion giant said it expects to complete the remainder of the goals set out in the Agenda for Change in the “coming months.”

Boohoo has also removed suppliers from its supply chain who did not meet its new standards and has also attached bonuses of senior management to achieving sustainability and ethics standards.

Just the end of the beginning for Boohoo

Sir Brian Leveson, who is overseeing the implementation of the changes, published his fourth report into the company and said: “I continue to applaud the enthusiasm that all at Boohoo have demonstrated for the Agenda for Change Programme and chart the very real progress that has been made in relation both to the recommendations set out in the review and also the wider ethical programme upon which the group has embarked.”

“It marks the movement of Agenda for Change into business as usual which is not, of course, the beginning of the end of the process, but merely the end of the beginning.”

Boohoo has also stated its intentions to sign the International Accord for Health and Safety, a legally binding agreement that has replaced the Bangladesh Accord to deliver improvements for garment workers.

Chief executive John Lyttle said: “The Agenda for Change programme was designed to ensure that the changes we made to our business are sustainable and embedded into our culture as we look to the future. The dedication of our teams to delivering real change has meant we have been able to achieve the challenging targets we set ourselves and I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in this, both inside Boohoo group and all of the external partners we have worked with, for their commitment.”
