Fashion retailer A-wear has appointed Kavanagh Fennell as receiver after it failed to exit examinership.

Latzur Limited, which trades as A-wear, has been in examinership since October 8 as it attempted to restructure its 31 Irish stores.

In a statement, receiver Ken Fennell said the business will continue to trade while it assesses the feasibility of some of the stores over the coming days.

He said it was “inevitable” that some stores will close.

A-wear employs 358 staff. It blamed high rents and increased competition for its demise.

The retailer was bought by its current owners investment firm Jesta Group from receivers in 2012.
