Experian Footfall data for week 20, 2011

  • As the halfterm holidays started across parts of the country, the index levels experienced a slight weekonweek increase of 0.6%, and compared with the same week last year the index showed a negative performance of 3.5%. The disappointing yearonyear fi gure was driven by a strong performance in the same week last year, when the bank holiday weekend performed exceptionally
  • Promotions and discounts held by some retailers in the week encouraged a positive weekonweek performance in the department store index of 15.2%, and a 6.0% increase against the same week last year. Department stores continued to demonstrate their popularity as a preferred ‘one stop destination’ to shop.
