DSGi has picked Leicester-based design consultancy Checkland Kindleysides to revamp its Dixons airport electricals stores.

Dixons stores in airports follow the same format as its former high streets shops, but a refresh of both its logo and brand image is anticipated as part of the revamp.

The refurbishment is the final stage of the overhaul of the electricals group’s UK store portfolio, following the rebranding of the Dixons high street stores to Currys.digital nearly two years ago.

Details of the overhaul are unclear, but Retail Week has learned that DSGi chose Checkland Kindleysides following a three-way pitch last month.

An industry source said that it could be difficult to deliver a new format for Dixons, partly because pressure on sales per sq ft in UK airports is so high.

It is understood that the first new-format stores will be unveiled in the summer.
