Transactional web site will complement business
Rural supplies retailer Countrywide Farmers is set to launch a transactional web site later this year.

Traditionally, the company has sold via its stores and through telesales and field sales, but the group has revealed that online retailing is the next logical step in the business' development.

Managing director John Hardman said: 'With many of our customers living and running businesses in isolated rural locations, an online service is clearly a very appropriate and complementary alternative to visiting our stores. We already have a significant number of hits on our web site, showing that potential is there to add a trading function.'

Countrywide Farmers operates 40 retail outlets in England and Wales. It also runs an agricultural supplies business, delivering direct to farms and has an energy division supplying heating, telecoms and electricity to the rural community.
